WE HAVE A NEW FAMILY MEMBER! (feat. Lucy Der)
So, remember in Siem Reap, Cambodia, how Lucy was so devastated and couldn't stop crying for 4 days? (If not, here's the link.) Well to summarize it, Mel was Lucy's companion who passed on the task to comfort Lucy to another creature. Who is this new creature? We are about to find out!
Why is this guy so adorable?!
Brief History of Yarn the Blue Monster. So Eli found him in a Phnom Pehn market and gave it to Lucy for Christmas. Which happened to be when Mel left for Australia. Lucy named this little monster Yarn because he is literally just a big ball of blue yarn!
Since no one knows Yarn as well as Lucy, let's ask her about her opinion!
Me: Hello Lucy let's start on telling us a little about Yarn! ( Classic first question but read on!)
Lucy: Well, he likes to charm people. A little bit sneakily but cute. He plays and sleeps. And he loves sparkly stuff, and smooth stuff. Yarn loves bubbles, one time he became wet because he liked to go inside of them.
Me: I hope that Yarn gets more than 8 hours of sleep every night!
Lucy: More than 8. He gets very sleepy and sleeps for a long time.Well he likes to wake up and goes back to sleep.
Me: Interesting. You said that he likes to play?
Lucy: And he loves sparkly stuff, and smooth stuff. Yarn LOVES bubbles. One time he liked them so much he became soaked.
Me: That's adorable. Does he have any friends?
Lucy: He has a friend named Flopps who plays with him. She likes to slide down hills but he doesn't like sliding down hills. He likes to play hide and seek but not as much as Mel. He likes to swing more than both of them. But he can get motion sickness when i swing him too much. Yarn dances to Cuban music.
Me: Salsa! Does he like to eat salsa?
Lucy: He hasn't tasted it yet. Yarn likes to eat fruit salad and vegetables. He's like a vegetarian. But he likes dairy.
Me: So including cheese? What about yogourt or ice cream?
Lucy: He doesn't like it. But loves ice cream. He just gets cold when he eats it.
Me: Maybe roasted beef will make him warmer.
Lucy: He doesn't eat meat! He's a vegetarian and he barfs naturally because he's not used to meat.
Me: Right oops. Is that considered an allergy?
Lucy: Hmmm. Sometimes. He barfs when he's allergic, when he's not used to things and when he gets motion sickness.
Me: So what are Yarn's allergies?
Lucy: He's allergic to almonds and waving wipes in his face. He barfs and he 'achoos' or he sneezes alot. I give him 'shots' or make him go to sleep by making a little tune.
Me: What are the shots? Surely not needles. They wouldn't hurt him because he was made from needles.
Lucy: The shots are pens and stuff. Allergy stuff. Just shots. Not needles! Haha.
That's truly fascinating. Well thank you Lucy for helping me understand our 7th family member! Hopefully he will pop up in some other blogs!
